Yoga chitta vritti nirodhah
1:2 Patanjali Sutra
Yoga is the cessation of the turnings of the mind
Yoga has always been my saving grace since I began exploring the Vedic Sciences in 1977. The practice has provided me a strong resolve to accomplish the softest of goals through self-awareness and as such I have healed my own body and transformed my mind, enabling me a more peaceful existence.
After a significant auto accident that herniated three of the discs in my spine, I was told to stop practicing Yoga and have surgery to fuse the discs together. Instead, I used Yoga to expel pain and rejuvenate the injury in order to maintain an active lifestyle. In the process I was also able to dispel fear and guilt as part of the process in relieving pain. I am grateful for the practice of Yoga.
Using what I have learned, I help others find balance, relieve pain and transform, spiritually, emotionally and physically. According to T. Krishnamacharya, Yoga can be viewed in three ways: 1. Yoga is a Vedic Philosophy based on the Sutras of Patanjali 2. Yoga is an art and a physical culture which uses Asanas – Sakti Krama Use of Yoga to gain a sense of power, muscular or otherwise 3. Yoga is a preventative, curative and therapy for ailments.
Depending on your ailment I will use the principles of Yoga to help you:
• Improve flexibility • Improve strength • Improve balance
• Reduce stress and anxiety • Reduce symptoms of lower back pain
• Increase energy and decrease fatigue • Reduce sleep disturbances
Yoga Therapy sessions will focus on your specific imbalance using manageable Yoga techniques to enhance and revitalize your mind, body and soul. Each consultation will be followed by a detailed diagram of Yoga postures suitable for you.
In addition to private Yoga Therapy sessions, I also teach regular yoga classes.
